Caracalla Carrhae Mint 198-217 AD

This is the last coin of the Severan eclipse series. The eclipse symbol is placed on a globe and base as a religious symbol. The previous posts display the eclipses throughout the life of Caracalla and they would have been in the region. It is perhaps the eclipse of 218 AD that is over Carrhae that is the most interesting. As we saw from the Diadumenian coin there appears to be an eclipse prediction on display. Caracalla was assassinated by his own soldiers in 217 AD before the 218 AD eclipse.
